How to get there

The village of Smilyan is situated in the south of Bulgaria close to the Greek border. It is about 15 km (approximately 20 minutes drive) from the town of Smolyan which has bus links from both Sofia and Plovdiv. Local buses provide services from Smolyan to the village.

Many european airlines fly into Sofia with Plovdiv mainly servicing flights from Ireland. Flight operators include Easyjet, Wizzair, British Airways and Bulgaria Air. Book early for the best prices. The best way to get to Smilyan is by hire car from the airport. This will take approximately 3 and a half to 4 hours and will enable you to enjoy more of the surrounding area.
